Quarterly News Summer 2019

Summary:
A quarterly update from CEO Thomas E. Seitz on some of the most relevant financial storylines, any potential changes that may impact you, and an update on AGB news.

Dear Colleague:

According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute’s 2019 Retirement Confidence Survey, the percentage of employees who feel confident about their ability to live comfortably in retirement has rebounded back to pre-financial crises levels. In this issue we review highlights from this annual survey and provide our perspective on participants’ current attitudes to retirement.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (“ERISA”). We take a look at ERISA over the years and provide our insights for what the future may hold.

Often considered the “sandwich generation” between elderly parents and children, employees 50 years or older bring a unique set of challenges when it comes to saving for retirement. In this issue we discuss how understanding these challenges can provide the basis for engaging these participants in greater retirement plan participation.

Lastly, we update you on the latest ABG news, review important upcoming compliance deadlines and provide you with what’s developing on the legislative front. We hope you find this issue informative. As always, your ABG representative is available to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Thomas E. Seitz
